This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school, where all students are considered at an economic disadvantage. In spite of the challenges that the students face, they enter the classroom with an eagerness for learning. It is an absolute joy to feed their eagerness.
My wonderful class is filled with an abundance of unique personalities.
Students are creative, funny, and at times dramatic. My students are very active and want to be constantly stimulated. They feed off of the energy of their teacher. My students love to be involved in hands-on learning activities as well as technology enhanced, student led learning activities. My students are energetic and full of personality. They thrive in a classroom environment that is full of positive energy and allows them to express their creativity.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in the learning of my students! The titles that you will contribute to purchase will help stock our classroom library with picture books. Struggling readers will often pick up books with pictures because the pictures and visuals are less intimidating than a typical book. Students who read these picture books find reading fun and begin to read more independently and for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is the perfect way to build better readers. Plus, what better way to excite children about reading than to have books that represent them!
