I have 23 amazing students in my classroom this year. My students are energetic, eager learners who seldom have the opportunity to receive a new book. Being at a Title I school does not always provide the materials the students need to improve their learning.
Being able to open up a book creates wonder, excitement, and curiosity.
I want to give these students the opportunity to feel all types of emotions by reading words out of a book. I want them to explore worlds that they didn’t know existed. Giving them this opportunity will not only expand their imaginations but it will also build their reading skills which then helps with their math abilities, science/social studies abilities, and writing abilities.
My Project
One of Dr. Seuss’s most popular saying says “The more you read, the more you know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Encouraging students to read more will allow students point of view to grow. Allowing them to have new books will develop their minds into something great!
We should not underestimate the power of reading.
These books will continue the students learning, progress their reading abilities, and give them endless knowledge. This is just the beginning of what these books can do for them.
All these books have been chosen with the students in mind. Some love reading nonfiction books and others love reading fiction books. But the one thing they all have in common is being able to read books that they haven’t had a chance to read before.
