My Students

I have the joy of teaching 20 goofy, resilient, and inspiring 6th graders. My school is 100% reduced-price/free lunch and has the highest homeless population in the district/city. My students have faced many obstacles at a very young age and often come to school unprepared.

I have fallen in love with this job and want to make sure my students have everything they need to be successful and reach their big dreams.

Due to complex trauma, lack of resources, and other environmental factors, the majority of my students entered 6th grade below grade level in math and reading.

My Project

These books will be used in a variety of ways in my classroom. My students are expected to analyze a novel and pull text based evidence to support their thoughts on character development, conflict, dialogue and more. The Egypt Game connects to our social studies curriculum on ancient civilizations.

I LOVE to read and want to instill that same love in my students.

The materials will allow my class to form a book club that is not only educational but engaging. My goal is to get all students talking about literature and seeking out more. I believe these novels will do just that.
