I'm moving from 3rd grade to 2nd grade. I'm excited to see the wonder and curiosity my students have in learning more about the world around them. It's inspiring.
The majority of my students are children of hard-working and invested, immigrant parents.
These children understand the sacrifices their families have made for them to receive a quality education. As their teacher, I'm their advocate in ensuring this education. My goal is to provide a rich, learning environment to further my students' success.
In 2nd grade, students are learning to read. During my time as a 3rd grade teacher, I saw how crucial students' reading was for learning. Because of this, I know that 2nd grade is an important year in building solid reading skills and habits to prepare students for success in the future. Since I am moving to second grade, I need appropriate books for my students. I am asking for forty books including Rosie Revere, Engineer; Stellaluna; and Henry's Freedom Box.
These books will allow our classroom to have a literature-rich environment that will build a confidence in and love for reading.
Not to mention, students will be exposed to some classics that we all remember from our childhood. My goal is for my students to not only learn to read, but to love reading. I'm hoping to use these books as a launchpad to do that.
