Making learning hands-on and exciting is an everyday goal in my classroom. Teaching a classroom of ELL students is an amazing and challenging experience. Every word and experience is completely new and assists them in building the background knowledge they desperately need to succeed.
Studies show building a solid foundation in dual languages not only helps students make connections to build their second language but also helps them find success on standardized testing.
Our students are brave, curious and quick to observe all the things put in front of them. That is why I strive to ensure everything put in front of them is quality. Due to our high level of poverty and lack of access of technology, I feel like it is my duty to give them those experiences that will build their curiosity and put them on the path to becoming lifelong learners!
With this iPad, students in my classroom will have access to hands-on learning! I currently have access to wonderful educational apps (Hooked on Phonics, Tumblebooks, Brainpop, Endless Readers, etc.) but do not have a way for my students to utilize them.
With the generous gift of this iPad, we would be able to give more students access to technology and learning games to prepare them for the future!
We will also be able to utilize OSMO learning systems and have students work on collaboration while they learn. Thank you for taking the time to visit this project and for your consideration!
