Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We live in a rural area where most students receive free or reduced lunches. My students are adventurous, inquisitive, and unique!! They are eager to be challenged and they love to learn new things! Many of the students in our school have experienced some type of tragedy or trauma in their little lives. It is my hope that providing them with a safe, secure, and nurturing environment will help them to grow and thrive in school and in life as well.
In our classroom we are a school family!
This means we celebrate together and we strive to help each other be successful in everything we do! For some children the goal is social-emotional well being and for others it is academic. Creating this family culture has helped students learn to communicate clearly and build relationships with their peers.
My Project
The books selected for this project will be used in a literacy curriculum that includes both math and science components in every lesson (book). The pillows will provide them with a cozy spot to sit in our library area. This will help my students develop a strong foundation in these areas and will give them a much needed boost in their development.
Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.
It is a tool for modern society. I hope to foster a love for learning and a genuine interest for reading books. I want to help my students fill their tool boxes up so that they have the skills needed to be productive and successful.
