Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
I strive to help them become the best version of themselves.
I want them to persevere, to change their mindset, to believe in themselves, and to know that their education is so important.
From the moment they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. It is my goal to inspire the earliest learners to continue on the path of academic excellence in a creative and positive way.
My Project
As a kindergarten teacher I set the stage for the rest of a child's academic career. One of my important duties is teaching a child to read. This opens the door to so many possibilities and I want them to not only know how to read but LOVE it! But how can you enjoy something when you're not comfortable?
Everyone likes to be comfortable when reading books.
We read on couches, in bed, in recliners, and on lounge chairs. Most people would not choose a hard chair to become engaged in a book. My students need a comfy futon to add to our library area so they can become interested in reading and comfortable at the same time.
The futon and throw pillows will be a lovely addition to our cozy reading area. The futon would be a great place to share a book with a friend, read independently, or work on an assignment. The futon and throw pillow I am requesting will enhance our classroom environment. The students will be even more delighted to be in a warm, bright, and cozy classroom.
