Students at our school are described as the "hardest working students" as they have a great amount of perseverance despite facing challenges in their lives. Many of my students come from low-income families and trauma situations that make learning and social interactions difficult.
In light of the challenges that they face, they do not allow that to stop them from coming to school ready to learn and explore new knowledge!
Helping these amazing little people develop into inquisitive learners is an amazing experience every single day!
My Project
My students are in need of reading incentives to help motivate and inspire them to develop into life long learners.
My students are taking part in a program that allows them to choose books at their interest level and complete quizzes.
Upon completion of the book, students will take a quiz. If they receive a passing score, they will earn points that will accumulate into prizes. They will also be setting individual reading goals and tracking their progress so they will strive to increase their time reading authentic text, fluency and comprehension.
My students are so excited to take part in this literacy journey and feel motivated to read! It has been amazing to see them finally excited about reading books!!
