I have students from various backgrounds and educational levels. They are from several countries and cultures. Some can speak English very well and others are just learning. I work at a Title I school which means many of the students that I work with receive free or reduced-price lunch, but this does not stop them from wanting to learn. My students give the best of themselves no matter what obstacles or challenges they face.
In fact, education is the top priority in each of their homes, and they bring that passion and energy to the classroom.
My Project
My students will learn about characterization and how to create reading material of their own to be entered into the district literary fair. Students will need to read graphic novels in order to gain the concept of graphic writing. Students will read My Hero Academia to understand, draw, and write using the structure of graphic novels in order to compete. This will directly impact their self-esteem.
Help my students gain writing, reading, plot, characterization, and other English Language Arts skills needed to compete in the yearly district literary fair.
Students will glean information from these graphic novels in order to create their own novels. They will ultimately create their own novels that they will share with the school, family, and community partners.
