Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing group of learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. 100% of our students receive free lunch, and a third of the students speak a language other than English at home. The students have limited experiences outside the classroom walls. They have limited exposure to current academic materials and often utilize used and donated supplies. They have limited access to cultural and extra-curricular activities as well. The children are eager learners just waiting for the right tools to help them succeed. Please help a great group of children soar high to reach their full potential!
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from new books for their library. They absolutely love to read and are very much drawn to graphic novels. These books will help engage some of my more reluctant readers and give them the experience of the joy of reading.
Many times, my students have to read old, ripped, donated books that have seen better days.
With this gift, my students will know the joy of reading a new book. They will feel that reading has value and that they are important enough to have brand new books in their classroom library. Nothing beats the experience of reading and I would love to be able to share that with my students. Please help us see that Reading is Fun!
