My Students

Kindergarten is a time for youngsters to grow both socially and academically! During this fun and exciting year, the changes that the students go through is incredible! When they come in to school for the first time in August they have no idea how much they will grow during the year. By June, many of the students will be reading!

I work in a high poverty school where 100% of the students receive a free lunch and breakfast daily.

The population in my school is very needy. Most of the students do not have an ideal home life, so I try to provide an academic and nurturing environment. My teaching philosophy is to challenge every student every day.

My Project

Kindergarten students are full of excitement and wonder. The Scholastic magazines provide high quality reading materials in a format that is interesting to Kindergarten students. The Scholastic magazines will be used to reinforce reading skills, introduce new topics, and provide an opportunity for students to become experts on the topic.

Reading Scholastic magazines will help the Kindergarten students become excited about learning to read!

Students love when the magazines arrive in the classroom because they know that they are going to have an opportunity to read and discuss a new topic. With the help of Scholastic magazine, we hope to instill a love of reading on all of the Kindergarten students.
