In our low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. To assist with the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as typical.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on my students' potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
chool should be fun! I want students to be excited about silent reading. A Flashlights will be great ways to get students excited about silent reading.
I want to encourage students to engage in classroom discussions by providing novelty items that will make it fun!
Fridays are now going to be flashlight Fridays schoolwide! Each students will get a flashlight to use during silent reading and throughout the day to make Fridays even more special!
I am so excited about this opportunity! If my classroom projects funds, my students will be able to be even more engaged in whole group lessons and discussions, and excited about flashlight Fridays! Thank you for any support you are able to offer our awesome classrooms!
