Reading is Fun in Second Grade

My Students

I teach at a dual immersion school! I teach two classes of 28 students, one class in the morning and one class in the afternoon.

My students are full of ideas, wanting to share their stories and experiences with others.

My goal is to help them find a love for learning and let them know that they are valuable in the classroom. My students would love to have a carpet in the classroom to allow them to have a space to call their own.

With such a group of diverse kids, every day is an adventure. I have several students who are English Language Learners, and some students can read chapter books already. I love that my students always want to share ideas and are always wanting to learn more information. By having a classroom rug, this will allow us to collaborate as a class and talk about things that are important to use individually. The students will also have the opportunity to grow and develop their brains.

My Project

My students will have the opportunity to have access to reading materials in the classroom. They spend 45 minutes doing interactive activities to expand their language and reading skills.

My diverse classroom includes multi language learners to gifted leaners.

By adding these extra reading resources to my room, my students diverse learning will be enhanced by having interactive hands on tools to enhance their learning in my classroom.

With the recent educational issues we have faced with Covid, my students will also be able to take these resources home if needed to support their academic learning.
