Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students don't have much. They are excited to come to school every day to learn and experience new things. Many of them don't have both parents at home and, if they do, their parents work several jobs just to pay the bills. School is their place of comfort and routine.
About 99% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
They get excited when learning about something new. They haven't had many experiences in their lives, and when they are introduced to something they haven't heard about, their faces light up. I want to give them every opportunity to enjoy their year with me that I can.
Many of my students have focusing issues and need a little help to get them to pay attention. I need to find a way to help them so they don't get in trouble.
My Project
My class is full of readers! I'm so proud of them. We love reading picture books every day and they can't read enough. I have recently switched grade levels and don't have a huge choice of books for them to read. I would love to surprise them with a bundle of books for them to get their hands on and enjoy.
My students clap at the end of books.
They love the visions it gives them and the surprise they get by words. I would love to give them more stories to keep in their minds. We use books to practice grammar and writing and the books I chose are specifically for that.
