I teach in a Title I school where about 97% of our student population is considered low income. Over 50% of our students are English Language Learners with several being refugees new to our country.
The diversity in my classroom is both challenging and amazing in how it enhances our environment to cultivate acceptance and promotes students to work together using their unique strengths.
My students work hard so they can become more and go beyond the life that the world has handed them.
My Project
I would love to add chapter books to the classroom library that are on their own reading level, helping them build confidence to read independently. By having a large selection of books that interest them, students will be more likely to stay engaged in their reading which will only help strengthen their skills.
The classroom library is such an integral part of the classroom that promotes a healthy love for reading, and reading is a great way for students to "dream with their eyes open".
Books are such a great opportunity for children to explore and learn about things outside of their own world and they offer an escape into wonderful adventures and experiences.
