Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
On their first day of school, they said: "So when will we learn to read and do math?" --I have 27 eager to learn 1st graders in the heart of Tucson who deserves the best education possible. They come to school every day giving their all, striving to reach their full potential.
Each one of my learners brings a special piece to the puzzle to make our classroom complete.
They come from different backgrounds, cultures, and living conditions - and every day they set their differences aside to come together to explore, learn, and grow.
My Project
These reading manipulatives will help my students enhance their reading skills by giving them a variety of ways to learn. They will be able to explore with manipulatives ranging from mutant finger-pointers all the way to leveled reading books. Each of my learners will embrace these manipulatives to their full potential. When they are supplied with different materials, my students remain engaged in their work. When they remain engaged they are increasing their focus and working hard to make their brains grow!
I also hope that these manipulatives will foster their love for reading.
I want my students to be able to expand their vocabulary, improve conversational skills, and appreciate the art of reading. I believe that these items are a sure-fire way to set that foundation!
