My students need 30 copies of "A Wrinkle in Time" to deepen their love for reading classics. They will also take a field trip to see the movie and complete a compare and contrast project.

My Students
My fifth graders are a special group who have an appetite for learning. Most come from Fort Greene, Brooklyn with hard working parents who may not always have the time to help out with assignments. The classroom is the only resource some have so my students are always eager to acquire something new or build upon prior experiences.
My students need materials that will help engage them as learners as they continue on their path to career and college readiness.
My philosophy is that if I can get my job done as a teacher everyday in the classroom, then my students will be that much better at the end of each day. This will be possible with the best resources that support my vision and my students' hunger for education.
My Project
My students will be able to have rich discussions and connect with peers by reading the classic "A Wrinkle in Time." They will use the books as an avenue to open up their minds to the power of reading and power through classroom activities.
My fifth graders will also have the opportunity to go see this movie in a theater once they've completed reading.
They will be able to take notice of literary devices and styles and how this all transforms into a movie script. This will allow them to analyze different forms of media and put them in a position to have talking points of knowledge.
