Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My class comprises 20 wonderful students from diverse backgrounds with varying interests, abilities, and future plans, who meet with me every day in Spanish class with one common goal - to better understand the rich, multicultural histories of the native speakers of the Spanish language.

I have students in my class who are star athletes, high academic achievers, and students who work hard but at the same time struggle and have IEP plans and meet daily with Academic Support staff.

My Project

Reading in the target Spanish language about actual young people who speak the target Spanish language, and seeing their pictures in their native cities and lands, will make what my students read about in textbooks come alive.

The Spanish Scholastic magazines will make students' learning engaging, and will encourage them by helping them learn valuable cultural information in the language they are studying, and by letting them see that their progress in language learning can be enjoyable and can give them a connection to others their age around the world.

My students will be able to take these magazines home to review what they have learned and been encouraged by, and will be able to use them as a constant resource for world events.
