Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low income, high poverty school district. My students come to school, often, not ready to learn. The students assume few regulatory skills, hence having multiple outbursts which interfere with learning.
Many are not fed properly, function with inadequate sleep and are exposed to life situations which their minds are not able to process.
These living conditions lead the way for many adverse behaviors in the classroom. I believe that these adverse behaviors could be regulated if students were given the opportunity to simply identify and work in accordance of their learning styles.
My Project
This year our classroom theme is to engage lifelong learners in Wanderlust! What could be better than exploring the world around us?
Then, while traveling on our learning adventure, taking a break to camp out in our teepee under the stars.
This reading nook of exploration will definitely be a classroom favorite!
Research says that when learning is fun, learning sticks! Through classroom transformation, even the most mundane subject matter will seem appealing to students.
Please help me to transform my classroom, to be that wild card, which creates magic and gives my students the curiosity to become everything they dream and more!
