Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is comprised of beautiful and intelligent special education students from various cultural backgrounds in a low-income school. All of my students have various levels of emotional disabilities. Many come from broken homes or live in foster care. One hundred percent of students receive free breakfast and lunch, and many of them go home with a backpack of food to get through the weekend. Your generosity will afford these students the opportunity to become lifelong learners!
These bright and determined students' current academic performance is below grade level due to their emotional needs, so they need every advantage possible, but we are in a school district with low funding.
Please help us! I want to give them every advantage possible to make academic gains and find a love of learning that matches my love of teaching them. Please help me accomplish this worthwhile endeavor.
My Project
All of my students have an intense dislike of reading and struggle to read and comprehend what they read. The Reading Plus subscription will help improve reading fluency and comprehension. An assessment is given that will evaluate a student's needs and reading level.
Student's then choose what to read based on their own interests and reading levels.
Having a choice on what to read will encourage them to continue to read and get better at reading. Student earn rewards, points and prizes which motivates them to continue to read and be successful.
