My 1st graders come from different backgrounds, but they all share a commonality, their love for learning. As their new teacher, I would love to continue to foster their eagerness to learn. Although my students come from a low, socio-economic background, these lack of resources should not hinder their educational journey in the classroom.
My 1st graders love to read, explore, create and discover the world around them.
In my classroom I provide a positive learning environment where my students are academically challenged with culturally relevant and inclusive topics that are aligned to the state standards.
My Project
All students must be able to access a variety of genres that could ignite their love for learning. My classroom library would play a vital role by providing access to books and promoting students' literacy. With a variety of genres I will be able to increase student motivation, engagement and achievement as a scholar. Reading will help my students improve their critical thinking skills.
It is important to have a wide range of books to support the needs of my students with different interests and reading abilities.
Lastly, having a classroom library will be used as a resource and location for independent reading, personal exploration and project-based reading analysis.
