Help me give my students 10 reading workbooks that will allow them to have extra practice working on specific reading skills and increase their reading scores.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 8th grade English Language Arts at a middle school in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri. Despite the many hardships my students face, they are incredibly motivated individuals who look for the positive in life.
My students are extremely aware that education is the key to their future success.
They work incredibly hard each day to make progress with their academics and reach their learning goals. These students constantly impress me with their grit, determination, and kindness. I'm proud to work at such a diverse school where students care about and learn from one another.
My Project
This year I'm looping with my 7th graders and moving up to teach them again as 8th graders. One of the advantages of this is that I already know their strengths and weaknesses as readers and I can capitalize on the work we did last year.
We are requesting reading skill workbooks at various reading levels so that students can have individualized reading intervention practice.
No two students are the same. Each student has a unique reading level and skill set. What we need more than anything are extra practice for the skills that they are deficient in so that they can increase their reading toolbox. These workbooks will provide my students with the reading practice that they need during small groups so that they can meet their yearly reading goals.
