My students need 45 copies of Scholastic News magazine to read and analyze informational text. Scholastic News magazines for each student will allow us to learn and enjoy important information.
"Our magazines are here today!" I can see the faces of my students when their own personal copy of Scholastic News arrives each month. They'll enjoy the opportunity to read relevant and child friendly news about what is going on in the world around them. Having fun and increasing skills is AWESOME!
Our school is considered a high poverty school.
The families we serve struggle to provide for their children. My students range from very low special needs students to gifted students. Some are also English Language Learners. Most of these students have few books to read at home and, therefore, literacy is a great focus at school. Providing a personal copy of a great children's magazine will be a highlight of our school day. It will be a very valuable tool for building upon informational text skills.
My Project
I am requesting 45 copies of Scholastic News magazine to read and analyze informational text. Scholastic News magazines for each student in my classroom will be a wonderful tool for increasing reading skills and focusing on informational texts. The monthly subscription will be something we look forward to each month. Instructional strategies will be used to get students to gain skills in reading with a purpose.
My students will be excited to learn that each month a magazine will arrive that is meant for only their hands.
Information within each magazine will not only teach them about the world around them but will help them increase their reading skills of informational texts.
