This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very creative and full of positive energy. They are part of a low-income community, and most of the families work in the local agricultural fields. The majority are English language learners who are working towards obtaining English reading proficiency.

They are ready, eager to learn, and master the English language with the help of reading books they love.

With a bit of motivational support, they can achieve anything!

My Project

These supplies will be used to reward students for their effort in reading during school hours, as well as reading at home each night. Our students need the support and encouragement to take charge of their independent reading practices and with these incentives, they will be more encouraged to do so.

Having these prizes as incentives will inspire our students to read and learn!.

I have always encouraged reading at their independent level (ZPD) for at least 30 minutes daily (either at home or school). I will use these rewards for weekly, monthly, and trimester word count goals! Our students love taking "AR" quizzes on the computer! Therefore, I will use these incentives to reward the students for reading proficiency and the percentage they receive from their quizzes!
