My students need Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs and rack to help strengthen their pre-reading skills, so that they can develop the foundation they need to be confident readers.
Do you remember how exciting it was to read a book to a teacher or family member for the very first time? In order to reach that milestone, students have to master several pre-reading skills such as letter identification and letter-sound recognition.
My students attend a public school in the Midwest.
We are one of three elementary schools in our town, and considered a low income school. 58% of our students come from low income homes.
My students are in 2nd and 3rd grade and attend Special Education classes for all or part of their school day. In my room, each student struggles with their own learning difficulties; however, they are all wonderful, hard working, eager to learn, and love coming to school.
My Project
My students need Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs and rack to help strengthen their pre-reading skills so that they can develop the foundation they need to be confident readers. Learning to read is not only an important and fun process, but also a complex one. Students have to master many pre-reading skills such as letter identification and sound recognition before they can begin experiencing the magical worlds that reading books can introduce them to. When students become fluent with recognizing the sounds that letters make, they can confidently begin the transition into blending words and reading on their own.
The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs will be a great addition to our classroom. There are 26 tubs, one for each letter of the alphabet, that are each filled with miniature real-world items that begin with each specific letter. Being able to hold and see the objects as we work on various reading skills will be extremely beneficial for my hands-on, visual learners.
These Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs will help provide my students with hands-on, educational experiences.
These experiences will help build the foundation necessary to independently read a book to an important person in their lives! And that is only the beginning of the story...
