This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are Spanish speakers. In my class they are in the process of learning how to read, understand and write in Spanish. They learn from their parents, grandparents or other family members to speak Spanish. But because they born here in the USA, Spanish became their second language.

I work with high school students, and their concentration and understanding while they are reading is low.

I look for a interesting text according to their age and knowledge. Maria, a novel by Jorge Isaac is about two teenagers who grew together. I hope this book will let them appreciate their Spanish language and learn more about their heritage.
