Mrs. Lee from Bossier City LA is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Reading in Our Room

My students need 30 books to help improve their literacy skills including Seed to Plant, The Emperor's Egg, and Owls. I believe the more they read the more they learn.

My Students

We are a very busy classroom. We are always up and moving to teach our peers. We sing songs to get most tasks done. My goal for this year is to teach my students to love to read. I want reading to be an adventure for them. I am constantly telling them, "the more you read, the smarter you are!"

I have a group of 21 bright students this year.

They are very inquisitive about things. I love that! They work well together in their teams. They are a talkative bunch, but we are using that to our advantage. We talk about the skills we are learning. They get to learn things and then teach their partners. I believe it shows that they have mastered a skill when they can teach it to their peers.

My Project

We will use these books to learn facts about people and animals. Reading non-fiction books will broaden our vocabulary, too. These books will be used to focus on certain topics, and learn interesting things about that topic. Some books will be used to make us laugh. We will be able to write about the things we learn.

I want my students to enjoy reading.

My hope is that these books will teach them to love reading. It will show them that you can read about so many different things. I want them to look back and see what they learned from reading. Reading can be beneficial in so many ways. You can read a book to learn how to do something, for enjoyment, and to be enlightened on things. My goal is that they realize what things they want to read about and take off.
