Everyday, 120 second grade children line up and enter rooms full of learning opportunities. It is their time to learn and prepare for a future of service and leadership. 2nd graders are full of energy and need opportunities to move and release energy to allow for more effective learning. The students are kind, loving, and very professional second graders. They come from various backgrounds, but together we have created a school family where everyone feels safe and loved. Our school works hard to provide a fun and positive learning environment where everyone contributes and belongs. The students enjoy coming to school, and the attendance percentage is high due to the positive environment. Teachers at this school love the students and love what they do.
My Project
Students will be exposed to great literature in a friendly and comfortable environment. Ball seating will allow for a movement and engagement while reading. All students need exposure to good books and flexible seating. This will allow students to read and move. Learning will become even more fun and engaging.
Second graders have a lot of wiggles and need variety.
Reading becomes a reward when there are many books and flexible seating options. Books that expose students to a variety of cultures and teach social skills are vital in second grade. It is important to be constantly adding new books and expanding the classroom library.
