I teach in a low-income, high poverty district. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches based on their socio-economic backgrounds.
Although my students may not HAVE the best, I know that they can BE the best.
They have an eagerness to learn that fills my classroom with energy. Being an Oklahoma teacher in these times is a very difficult situation. Since our classrooms do not have the funding needed to supply my students with materials that will excite them, I am making it my mission to find the materials to keep the momentum of excitement in my classroom continuous.
My Project
By proving a variety of materials for my students to learn with, I am able to open many doors of opportunity for ALL students in my math class. By allowing them to read the material they are able to get a different perspective on the math concept at hand in an innovate way.
The "Sir Cumference" series makes learning math fun and interesting while entertaining students with a fun story.
This book series will allow me to show students examples of math concepts in a way that is easy for everyone to understand while also strengthening students vocabulary and reading skills.
