My Students

My students come from a rural area in the mountains of western Virginia. Some live on active farms, but all most definitely live in the country. Fishing, hunting, and camping are all popular family activities in our community.

I want to inspire my students to love learning as much as I do.

Many of my kids dream of going to college, but some are just hoping to finish high school. With a good education, they will have the best chance to succeed in life.

My Project

Our floor pillows for the reading corner have overlived their usefulness. All of them are leaking stuffing or have fallen apart. While I have tried to repair them when possible, it has become apparent that they need to be retired.

We need some new floor pillows and bean bag chairs so that our favorite reading and project nook can be cozy and look great as well!

My students prefer to work in different positions throughout the day. While some of them like sitting at their desks to work, many prefer the comfort of sitting on the floor pillows in the reading corner or working at one of our standing desks.

New pillows and beanbag chairs will brighten our room and inspire the students to take care of the materials. When pillows become worn, the students do not feel as if they need to show special care. I want to set a good example by demonstrating to my students what good stewardship looks like.
