We are an inquisitive, fun, smart, and excited community of learners. We are diverse in every sense of the word: culturally, economically, racially, linguistically, and in terms of our interests.
We come together in the classroom to create a rigorous learning community.
Together, we will investigate and discover how our similarities and differences inform our understanding of the world. We are excited to tackle a new year of learning and fun together. Please support us as we complete elementary school.
My Project
We are starting our 5th-grade year with a deep exploration of historical fiction and its common themes.
George Santayana wrote, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Maybe our next generation can avoid some of the great errors of our past and build on the successes of those who came before us.
While reading historical fiction books, we will ask, "How does the author recreate the past to help readers experience history in a new way? How can we view historical moments from multiple perspectives? Whose story is being told and how does their life experience influence the telling?" We are ready to dive deep into our fifth-grade work. Help us find a fun and engaging way through literature.
