My fifth grade students will be embarking on a new experience this year! They will be moving from room to room for subject areas. Students will come to me for one section of their reading. During the day, I will be able to impact about 120 students with Reading instruction.
My fifth grade students like to move and sometimes have a hard time focusing on reading.
I plan for my classroom to become a peaceful and calming place to get lost in a book.
My Project
I plan to use the materials (black paper, chalk markers, and border) to create a Reading Graffiti wall in our classroom. Students will pick out their favorite quote from their current book to write onto the wall to show others how powerful literature is. My hope is that this wall will spur on others to pick up new literature that they may otherwise not have tried.
I look forward to create a peaceful and calming environment in our Reading classroom.
Through the use of wobble stools, chimes, and wobble cushions, I plan to create a comfortable reading environment, therefore encouraging our fifth graders to dive deep into their books.
