Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a highly diverse school with one idea in mind---an international focus. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, we learn about the world, how it functions, its needs, and its goods. We are thinkers, inquirers, and risk takers. We are knowledgeable, open-minded, and caring. We reflect constantly on our growth as individuals and collective participants in our community. We collaborate and become better people to fully understand the world around us, and we work to become effective communicators.
Our goal is to be true bilingual and bi-literate people.
Therefore, we are immersed in reading, writing, listening and speaking. We believe in the power of two languages and how learning a second language strengthens our first. It is not easy, but, with hard work, it is possible. Si se puede!
My Project
The books I am requesting will help us improve our reading by actively participating in literature circles. Each circle will be self-guided and self-paced. Having a variety of book titles to choose from will provide us with different experiences, genres, point of views, and journeys. The selection of books includes different levels and different interests so that we all have a chance to experience something new.
These books will allow us to be responsible about our learning as we facilitate our group.
Each member of our group has a role, and we are all responsible for our own. Together we clarify and justify our findings.
