Help me give my students a rug, wobble chair, stool, and some amazing books to read and explore. Help me give them a cozy and safe place to learn and grow.
As a teacher in a Title I school, my students face challenges on a daily basis both in and out of the classroom. My students are hard workers. They come to school with a positive attitude while many of them are trying to overcome difficult home lives. We have a wonderful staff that dedicates their time and energy to help these students in any way that we can.
Our class motto is "It's okay to not know, but not okay to not try." My students practice this everyday as they strive to learn and grow.
My Project
In my classroom I surround my students with a variety of reading opportunities. I try to expose children to a variety of reading materials to create lifelong readers. We have a wide range of reading abilities so we explore books as a group, independently and with partners.
Reading gives students a place to go when they have to stay where they are.
Books take them on adventures beyond the imagination.
I have selected a few novels that will draw students in with the relatable characters, exciting story lines, and rich vocabulary. We will read these novels as a class or small groups where students will participate in activities that strengthen comprehension skills such as summarizing, predicting, inferring and character analysis.
I have also selected some stools and a rug to give students alternative places to sit and be more comfortable while learning.
