My students come from mostly low socioeconomic backgrounds, and over 90% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast. We are made up of about 60% Hispanic with around 15% white, as well as African-American students.
Our school has one of the largest percentages of Hispanic students in the state of Indiana.
Almost 75% of my students speak Spanish at home, but speak English at school. Coming from low socioeconomic families tends to make our students more transient, and, unfortunately, we have many students move in and out.
My Project
I would love to have these reading comprehension games. Not only are these games educational but they are fun. The kids will not even realize they are learning, they will think are just playing a game. Which is the best part! I will use the games in reading center time. I will rotate the games every few weeks so the kids are learning and working on new skills. I like to be interactive in my classroom and I like for the kids to enjoy learning rather than be forced to read a book. Kids need to be kids and enjoy school. This will help make that happen.
