As a teacher of students in low income/single-parent family homes, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. The students in my classroom have a range of different abilities.
Living in low income/single-parent family homes may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may deprive them of life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
The materials and supplies I have requested for our classroom will be a dramatic improvement for our learning environment. We have 8 students in our classroom. A new bottle warmer will help us warm more than one bottle at a time and keep our students fed and happy. The books will help fill our bookcase and help us work on early literacy skills.
With these new books, my students will also be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to explore books independently at their own level.
Thank you for your generous donation and helping us fund our reading project!
