Help me give my students reading material for various grade levels, readability and comprehension levels. Struggling readers make up a large population of my students, so providing a variety of material would be helpful.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all from low to moderate income families. Many of them are from single parent homes or live with grandparent/guardians. They can and will meet challenges when they feel and know that they are cared for and about.
My students are energetic and lively.
They are eager to learn and don't mind doing so when shown that high expectations are set and expected of them. They come from diverse backgrounds with various learning and functioning capabilities. They keep me on my toes and I learn just as much from them as they do from me!
My Project
These materials will make a difference because they will give me the opportunities to reach a wider range of my students. All students will receive the opportunities to be successful in their attempts to read, comprehend and expound upon a variety of reading material.
By providing various levels and genres of reading material, more students can be reached according to their reading, comprehension, and interest levels.
A classroom library will be established and a reading center will be structured so that students will feel free to utilize and partake of any reading material of their choice. Students will be encouraged to always visit the library and take full advantage of its contents.
