Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special in so many ways and I thoroughly enjoy knowing each student gains confidence through learning! I do have a great job and I am thankful that I look forward to coming to work every weekday just so I can instill each and every mind with knowledge! (Oh... I also work for my students on the weekends too! Ha! )I am sitting at home brainstorming on projects that will facilitate "The want to learn" and find more ways for the students to set and accomplish goals.
My students come from low income and and impoverished homes that rely on schools and teachers to instill that drive of believing in themselves.
I have a goal in teaching. My goal is to have my students learn something that will spark positivity in their lives, to make them want to come to school to learn more, to believe in themselves, and to know that they can set goals and accomplish their next goal!
My students may feel school is just a place that they get a meal, or a place to visit with friends, but I want all of my kids to feel the yearn to strive!
My Project
Working at a lower demographic school, my third grade students test very low in reading and math. This year half of my class attend an intervention reading class for thirty minutes a day to help them become better readers. These students are reading at a first grade level or below and need more than thirty minutes a day to allow them to excel in reading.
The interactive reading resources I have chosen will help my students with fluency, comprehension, letter sound recognition, blending and so much more!
Such a fun way to learn too! My classroom is divided into diverse reading groups to help them practice and learn reading curriculum on their level.
The Leappad books and Dot program are an educational way for my students to practice sounding out letters/words correctly and reading along with the interactive readers. Depending on their level of reading, the students can move up a level to comprehension and then on to inferences and context clues.
