In my 3rd grade classroom, I have students with creative, funny, and spunky personalities. One of my favorite parts about my students is their love for learning, collaborating, and their big imaginations! These qualities are also incorporated into the stories they love to read and write about.
3rd grade is a transition year where learning to read becomes reading to learn.
I want to continue building life-long readers and learners. Small-group collaboration fosters a love for reading, writing, and learning.
My Project
No matter what grade is being taught, all students are on the same reading level...As educators, we know this is not the case. Unfortunately, our reading curriculum is created like a "one size fits all" for reading ability.
In order to reach all students no matter their reading level, small group instruction is crucial.
I have chosen novels based on student reading levels and interest. These novels will be used in small-group instruction to enhance engagement and student success.
For my project, I have chosen a variety of novels that will peak my students interest. My students love stories about animals and anything that can make them laugh!
