Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are extraordinary learners. They work hard every day to learn, explore, and have fun all while combating their disabilities. I have been working with students with Moderate/Severe disabilities for the past 6 years. This school year will look very different as we will be beginning the school year with Distance Learning. In the Spring, Distance Learning was a struggle for my students, myself, and their families. But regardless of the struggles and frustrations, my students and parents showed up, worked hard, and rocked Distance Learning. I was so proud of them and their accomplishments throughout Distance Learning.
While they will struggle with Distance Learning, I know they will persevere.
This year we as we face Distance Learning and eventually in person learning I am hoping to build a classroom of community, love, and learning. I am hoping to provide the best supports to my students and their families throughout this time. These amazing students remind me every day why I do what I do.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my classroom because they will be giving the gift of literacy to my students. The furniture we are asking for will provide students exposure to various themes for the month and different types of books and authors. The leveled books will help my students gain experience with various levels of reading and becoming stronger readers. I am hoping that by having these items in my classroom my students will be able to get excited about reading. I cannot wait for my students to have more experience with reading and to help them become super readers!
