Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Science to third grade students in a Title I school in a school district that has been hit with huge budget cuts that have drastically affected the materials and resources that are available for me to use in the classroom. I teach the entire third grade which contains students that are at all different levels of learning including ESOL, ESE, TEAM, and gifted students.
Teaching Science is a hard subject to teach if the children have little or no prior knowledge or experiences. By being able to build their knowledge with books that relate to the Science skills, concepts, vocabulary and facts, my students can engage in the reading process to build their scientific knowledge.
The resources that I am requesting will allow for me to build a science library within my own classroom where the children can check out books based on the topic that they would like to know more about. The students will be able to complete projects based on a topic of their choice. Most of all they will be building their scientific knowledge.
Your help will allow my students to continue to build their confidence in reading by learning more about science. By donating the materials that I need to build my students' science knowledge, my students will be able to research various science topics and build valuable skills for their learning.
