Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are willing to read books. They come to class and ask for the books to read because they want to build up their vocabulary and simply master the language skills.
My students are from different cultures, ethnicity's, and religions.
They attend our school which has no budget for updating and enhancing the classroom library. The books they would need will possibly improve their language skills they need to be competent in the business world. My students come to our school with the expectation of improving and then mastering their language skills.
My Project
My students will read the book Maniac Magee donated by Donors Choose. They will use comprehension skills they have to have group discussions and analysis of the characters and events, They will then form their opinion and chance to evaluate each others point of view of the story. They will then create a story board. As a culminating assignment, my students will write a persuasive essay, which is a big part of Common Core State standards.
My project will make a huge difference in my students life.
As a result of my project, my students will improve their vocabulary, comprehension skills, and then master the language skills. They will use the language skills when they contribute to our country by being competent citizens who will apply the skills from reading into the real-life situations.
