Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I would like to purchase materials that children can use in independent centers. The main focus is on increasing English language vocabulary in a fun non-threatening way. Various materials would reach all students regardless of current language mastery and would incorporate various learning styles. These materials would augment the language arts program in a self contained bilingual second grade classroom. Children in the classroom speak another language in addition to English. This year, I have several students that are new to the United States and the English language. This makes it very hard to reach all language learners when the majority of the children are more fluent. These materials would help reach these learners in a fun way. These materials such as reading for meaning match up puzzles, Tubs of letters and practice cards are needed to help provide the students with a stimulating language environment where they can engage in independent learning.
