My Students

A typical day in my classroom, is not a typical day in any other classroom. It is fun, engaging, and controlled chaos of learning. Students immerse themselves in learning through collaborative learning, technology and hands-on activities. Each day brings a new adventure to my students.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.

They crave a sense of variety in the classroom, from instructional methods to the math problems they solve to the books they read. They love to be captivated in their reading and learning. Being third graders, they learn best through play and socialization. I am blessed to be working at such a great school that offers wonderful students and team members that foster learning to the highest regard.

My Project

My students need books, such as Miss Mary is Scary, Lightning Strikes, and The Math Wiz, to improve their literacy, language fluency, and writing skills through a diverse classroom library. I envision my students using these resources as away to find a love of reading and writing. Students will be doing book studies, literature circles, and dynamic projects with these books, as well as independent reading time. They will be able to discover their "Just Right" book, and necessary reading skills that they need to be successful. Children need to feel comfortable in what they are reading and enjoy it so they can fall in love with it. The goal of this library is to enable these students with choices while working on their literacy skills.

Your donations to this project will help improve my classroom and student learning, by giving them the tools they need to be fluent readers that don't just read for meaning, but read for the enjoyment.

With these books, I can help nurture a love and desire to read that will extend beyond my classroom. Books mold and shape and inspire our students. They become a part of their identity and guide them in ways we as teachers cannot do alone.
