Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Often times, my students struggle to find books they are interested in reading. By providing a variety of books, authors, and levels in my classroom, students will be more willing to try new books they otherwise might not be exposed to.

My students are enthusiastic 8th Graders who love to encourage each other to do their best.

They are constantly trying new books and encouraging others to read their favorite genres. Our school is located in a low socioeconomic area. Our staff and faculty work hand in hand to ensure the students receive the best education possible despite the students' economic hardships.

My Project

Each week, students have the opportunity to check out a book from the school library. Unfortunately, the library frequently does not have books the students are interested in at the time the students are visiting the library. As a result, students often check out a book which does not particularly interest them. It is my goal to provide a variety of books which the students have shown interest in order to supplement the school library's collection.

The donations to this project will improve my students' ability to read a variety of genres, authors, and reading levels.

In doing so, my students' reading ability will improve, as well as their writing ability.
