Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school in Pennsylvania and all receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. They attend a typical, inner-city school. Most face serious obstacles before they even walk through the doors in the morning. Our goal is to make our school a safe and loving environment.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds and different countries. This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.
My Project
My students really disliked reading until I started talking about books I read for fun. Then I asked what they would like to read and bought those books. I’ve now created book monsters. I can not keep books on my shelf’s. They are always asking for new books. I’d love to be able to gift them with a book or two for holiday break.
They will have so many options like the holiday books or the mysteries. The girls can chose a great teen romance or silly book. They will all have the chance to fall in love with reading. The Fearless series and Morganville books are a big request.
