Reading for Enrichment

Help me give my students some more enriching books to read. We have a program where students read a book a week. My hope is to have them experience books that are more enriching then graphic novels.

My Students

Our school provides elementary education in a safe, family-friendly environment where students are encouraged to achieve personal bests. Students are served according to their individual needs. Nothing is mass-produced. Attention to detail is the hallmark of our school. Almost all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are a part of their community and are attempting to achieve greatness while persevering through Covid learning.

Their parents work hard to supply us with what we do not receive through regular school funding; however, this is not enough.

My students take the time to clean their work environment and tools several times throughout the day to keep disinfected. They struggle to wear ill-fitting masks while attempting to concentrate on the task at hand.

My Project

Many of my students read the same books each week, mainly graphic novels. I believe that they need more interesting titles with storylines that engage them and encourage them to read more. These books will do that while also exposing them to a more varied reading experience.

Students who read typically do better in school.

Engaging texts are necessary to help build reading stamina. Varied subject matter will help students to experience different things that they may not experience in the real world. Additionally, reading can help students to experience the world.
