Help me give my students a reading curriculum for life long independence by teaching them how to read.

My Project

I work with the best students. They are all smart, caring and hard workers. My students also have severe disabilities. A huge misconception is that this population can't learn. This is entirely untrue! Students with disabilties can learn and do learn in all academic areas. However, one of the most important areas of learning is reading.

Knowing how to read is the most important skill to help students gain independence in all areas of their lives.

I am requesting a reading curriculum that has been developed for individuals with severe disabilities in order to help my students become fluent independent readers.

Research tells us that students who can read have an increase in their independence, communication, and an overall more positive career and living outcome.
