I have a wonderful fourth grade class with great enthusiasm for learning. There are currently 23 students in my classroom, but I teach in a very transient district which causes often fluctuations in class size. My school district is nearing a 50% poverty rate which increases yearly. It is a superb school in a small town with minimal businesses to offer financial support through taxes. In addition, the townspeople are not willing to pass a referendum. We look for ways to cut our budget without hurting our students every year. Each year it gets harder and harder.
I have a unique class with a vast array of learning styles each of whom learn at different levels. I am always searching for new ways to reach EVERY student and offer a valuable education to all. My goal is to provide all students with educational success. Currently, I have been able to create math centers within my classroom, but I am unable to provide my students with reading centers. A listening center would aid with my venture to provide the appropriate centers within my reading class.
I need all of the materials for a listening center. Luckily, these are sold in a package. Listening centers help aid comprehension and listening skills. They model fluency, foster independence, and expose children to a variety of literature. Listening centers can also be used as a source for genre or author studies. They expose children to newspapers, poetry, plays, and a variety of other literature. Listening centers ultimately will affect the quality of spoken and written language as well.
Please, help me help my students. I would love to expose them to listening centers. Listening centers would provide my students with the educational advantage for which they long. You can make the difference in my students' long term education. Thank you for your consideration!
