Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to learn and read. Books allow them to hold their dreams in their hands. Reading gives them someplace to go when they are feeling confused, lost, happy or sad. "Reading forces you to be quiet in a world that no longer makes place for that." - John Green

My school has roughly 1400 students and 200 teachers.

My scholars come from families where they don't have the extra funds for medical expenses or household entertainment at home. They come to school knowing they will be not only loved, but supported in every way possible.

My Project

Many of my students are English as a Second Language Learners. They not only have difficulty reading books, but becoming engaged in the book that they choose. Research shows that reading not only expands your vocabulary, but it leads to success in your future.

These new books will be used for my students to develop their language skills, as well as enhance their concentration.

They enjoy falling into a good book and students who enjoy reading gain confidence in themselves and the world around them. Reading will spark their imaginations, stimulate their creativity, and help them understand change and how to accomplish goals.
